2019 January 3 ZC-BD, CN, JO, VL Zones

The Bedfordview, Centurion, Johannesburg and Vaal Zones met in the Florida Chapel for Zone Conference on Thursday beginning at noon.

Our assistants, Elder Bogosavac and Elder Witts, presented a review of our 2018 Mission goals and accomplishments. They presented the 2019 new mission goals using the missionaries' prior input and as decided upon in MLC on Wednesday.

We dismissed to take pictures and eat lunch at 12:30 pm.

After a reconvening hymn sung by our Tsakane and Kwa-Thema elders, Elders Pop, Romney, Sommer and Leavitt, Sister Leavitt did a presentation on health--missionary responsibilities, processes and expectations from the Mission Manual.

Each zone then went to a different room for the zone leaders to train on the things the assistants trained them on at MLC--Adjust Your Teaching (and Finding) to Meet Needs, PMG 177-178 and President Sitati's Mission Tour zone conference presentation, Invite Members to Help You Teach, PMG 179-180, Weekly (not weakly) Reporting on the Missionary Portal, and adjourning to the front lawn for a Goal Demonstration by President Leavitt and a snack.

After a reconvening hymn, we watched a Bike Safety and Maintenance Training video created by Elder Witts, Elder Bogosavac and our office elders, Elder Eriksen and Elder Spencer, with Elder King helping (at the end of his surgery recovery).

Elder Truman talked about what information he needs missionaries to send to him about their CO2/Smoke Detector that he needs to enter on the system so they will be able to test their flat device and mark it off as safe on the missionary portal each month.

Elder Rees gave a presentation on cars. He and Elder Rees checked all the cars in the parking lot. He commended almost all. Elder Rees tracts the speed and kilometers driven for each car. He presented a chart comparing now to the past. His presentation was most revealing. He will post charts and continue to call the offenders with higher violations. We have greatly improved. He taught how we can lower our speed 4 kilometers so we will not travel over the speed limit and thereby lower our BidTrack Violations. We need to use the resources to do the Lord's work with care. We need to plan wisely.

President Leavitt concluded the meeting with his picture presentation on the Hubble Telescope allowing us to see the majesty of space, and included scriptures on the wonderful creations of God. He talked goal-setting and being one with Him to achieve them. He also answered missionary-submitted written questions.

Pretty good for the last week of December attendance and on-date snap shot when so many people are on holiday (and so many elders weren't here last December to know how to well plan for the holidays). The missionaries did focus well on finding--exceeding their goal--so we will have a great January and February.  And there were two last-minute changes in baptisms/confirmations.
