Note: A lot of activities and meetings were occurring at the same time. I don't have pictures of everything that happened. But there are a few to enjoy.
Wednesday:
President Leavitt and I drove to Eswatini (Swaziland) on Wednesday for President Leavitt to attend a mission presidency meeting at the Manzini Chapel with President Simelane and the other presidency members by WhatsApp.
Thursday:
While President Leavitt and I and Elder and Sister Wold attended zone conference at the Mbabane Chapel, our other senior missionaries drove to Eswatini and saw the Glass Factory just eight minutes after the Oshoek Border Crossing.
The Wolds met them there after zone conference and took them to see the Sibebe Rock and then on to the Sibane Hotel where we all had dinner together at 6:30 pm. We had a wonderful dinner/meeting with each person sharing thoughts and ideas about serving in their area. (President Leavitt and I interviewed and trained the Nhlangano and Ezulwini elders (4) right after zone conference.)
Friday:
The Senior Missionaries went to the Swazi Candle Factory and shops in Malkerns, the Baobab Batik Workshop, House on Fire, Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, saw Execution Rock in the distance, the grand entrance to Ludzidzini--the royal residence of the Queen Mother of Eswatini and drove through Lobamba to see where and how many of the Ezulwini branch members live. Lunch was high dining at KFC at the Gables. Then off to the Ezulwini Handicraft Market--also known as the Blue Roof Shops. Dinner was a choice between Pizza Inn or Glaito's at Corner Plaza.
President Leavitt and I spent the Friday interviewing and training the missionaries in Manzini and then in Mbabane (8 elders). We attended a fireside in Manzini with the area's married couples to talk about marriage. It was a good meeting, but went late. I took these at the very end. We drove to Ezulwini in pouring rain and mist and darkness--glad to not run off the highway. We made it safely.
Saturday:
After breakfast at the Sibane, the senior missionaries drove to the Mantenga Craft Centre which has a popular silversmith shop with jewelry handmade from silver and the hair from giraffe and elephant tails. They passed by the U.S. Embassy on the way to the Mantenga Cultural Village and Show. The monkeys loved playing on our cars while we watched the show and took the village tour. Lunch at Spur at the Gables after, then a drive to visit the Manzini Market where women are sewing dresses, making baskets and selling vegetables.
You can see Execution Rock in the distance above the village:
Monkeys really like our car--Monkeys sliding down the front windshield and mom cleaning her baby's fur on stomach while another monkey also wanted her attention:
Saturday: President Ntshalintshali picked up President Leavitt after breakfast to do member visits as part of the Mbabane Swaziland District Conference. At the Manzini Chapel, he had a presidency meeting and trained in the Leadership Training session from 2-3:30 pm. Sister Leavitt joined the senior missionaries during the morning activities until after lunch and then she drove to Manzini to speak at the adult conference session at 4 pm with President Leavitt. The Wolds led the way to the Manzini Market and then left them to shop and joined us at the conference session.
We all joined up at the Mugg N' Bean restaurant at the Gables in Ezulwini at 7 pm to have dinner and a wrap-up visit.
Sunday:
Everyone drove from Ezulwini to the Mbabane Chapel for the 10 am Mbabane District Conference meeting. The Wolds provided everyone a sack lunch to enjoy on their drive home. President and Sister Leavitt and Elder and Sister Wold all spoke at this conference session. President and Sister Leavitt held a YSA Fireside at 12:45 to 2:15 pm at the Mbabane Chapel. They drove home after President Leavitt's wrap-up conference meeting.
After the Mbabane Swaziland District Conference Meeting on Sunday:
