20-23 October 2017 Madagascar Missionaries

20 October 2017, Friday morning we had breakfast with Elder and Sister Jensen who slept at the mission home because they are flying to Provo for 10 days to a work convention, and our five Madagascar Elders (Erickson, Walker, Steanson, Howell and Stegman) who will try to make flights to the USA to their newly assigned areas. The office Elders took the Jensens to the airport and our three APs took the five Elders. Three managed to get on a full plane. They brought back two, Elders Stegman and Howell. The office Elders and APs also picked up two more missionaries from Madagascar, Elders Passey and Chounlamany. So they brought four to the mission home for dinner and sleeping.

Elder Wagner picked up a few of the missionaries for driving tests (stick shift with the left hand for driving the trucks in Swaziland). Then after breakfast, we took all the missionaries to the office where they received English Missionary handbooks and I ran over to the MTC and secretary there printed new English Pastor cards. Elder Wride and Elder Pratt took all of them to the Police station to be fingerprinted to start processing their Swaziland visas. Elder Wagner drove Sister Wagner and six missionaries and I drove President Leavitt and Elder Freestone in our car. All the luggage and people barely fit in both vehicles. The missionaries from Madagascar watched the 2-3 hours of safety training videos and read other training material on the way. Elder Freestone doesn't have his driver's license so he can watch it later. He read all the materials, visited with us and took a nap.

We did a little training and Elder Wagner handed out new accident forms for each vehicle. Then President Leavitt announced who the companionships would be. Elder and Sister Wold, Elders Powell and Hosmer (ZLs) and others helped rent and fix up the needed apartments to be ready for this afternoon. After the meeting, we drove home. President and I arrived at 10:30 pm.
