Transfer Day, Tuesday
Our office Elders Marsden and Davis (new) picked up Elders Willey and Pace at the mission home to go to the Joburg airport to fly to Madagascar to finish serving their mission there at 5:30 am.
The rest of us left at 6:30 am to pick up our new Elders at the Joburg MTC at 7 am.
All except 8 or 9 companionships needed to come in this morning for the transfer. We opened five new areas and changed other areas to biking. Many cars needed bike racks, or to switch with an area that needed a bike rack on that car, or to go to get serviced or fixed before being turned back to the area. We have been working hard to obtain flats closer to the proselyting areas as leases expire. We are changing many car areas to biking/walking areas. We are having some areas share a car. We have 16 new missionaries today (14 from the Joburg MTC, one flew in 6 am and another flew in at 5:30 pm from the USA, and number 17 will fly in on 5 June.
We have breakfast and the first part of orientation for the new elders and their trainers in the CES classroom next to our mission office.
The main transfer is taking place outside. I try to take some pictures in between things.

Elder Davis, our new office missionary with Elder Marsden, taking Elder Pratt's place |
After orientation with the assistants in the CES classroom, the new missionaries come to the office and split into two groups, meet with Sister Boyer, Sister Wagner, Sister Leavitt, Elder Boyer and Elder Wagner. All drivers must take a driving test with Elder Wagner. He is spreading the driving tests out, however, as most are paired with a driver trainer. President Leavitt has been interviewing the missionaries over the past week so only had a few today before the pairing meeting with trainers after lunch. This helped as we had 16 new missionaries and it would have been a very long day otherwise. It was a great day and the weather was beautiful!!!
Elder San Pascual flew in this morning and had his interview and then joined orientation training.
Working together on a orientation quiz right before lunch.
After lunch is the matching of new missionaries with their trainers.
Pictures and the off to their areas about 2:30 pm!

President Leavitt set apart Elder Xoli Andile Moeletsi of the Ennerdale Branch. Elder Moeletsi will enter the Joburg MTC and serve in Zimbabwe (along with Elder Dean Shelembe, Elder Saviour Bvute, and Elder Raapile Rakuoane--all from the Ennerdale Branch. We have been so excited as each have worked hard preparing this past year and now serving the Lord in Zimbabwe). |
