First day of interviews with President Leavitt at the mission home.
While missionaries took turns being interviewed, each companionship did a role play mini lesson which included an opening prayer, a short 2-3 minute thought on Christ and missionary work and then inviting the church member being taught to take out their phone and look through their contacts on their phone and choosing someone they felt inspired to share a message with right then. After discussing the contact's needs and issues and finding the right video clip or message to send, the member, using one of their social media platforms, sent their contact the video link or message they found right then. They then discussed how it felt to share. The responses were very positive.
After each lesson session was done, the members taught gave a critique to the missionary companionship of what they liked and what they thought the companionship could do to improve the outcome for the member. It was a learning experience for all. The members expressed that when the spirit was present, it was easier for them to discover a contact with whom to share a message right then. They enjoyed how they felt after they had shared a special message with one of their contacts.
We so appreciate all the members who have come and been a part of this social media initiative.
This first day we had 40 interviews and I was so engrossed in making sure everything was running smoothly and also trying to listen to as many lessons as I could that I forgot to take many pictures. So, I am sorry that many missionaries are missing from the pictures.
