2018 Dec 3 Mission Tour begins & Dec 4 MLC

We started our mission tour with President Sitati, 1st Counselor in the Africa Southeast Area, and his wife, Sister Gladys Sitati, on Monday afternoon  (3 Dec) with meeting our office staff and having a dinner in the CES classroom with the office couples (Rees and Truman), Leavitts, and Sitatis. Then Presidents Sitati and Leavitt went our proselyting with some of our missionaries.

Before the dinner, I had met some missionaries at the Mayo Theatre to drop off Elder King. I got him checked in and situated. After dinner, Sister Sitati came with me to check on him. We waived to him right before he went into surgery (it was delayed until 7 pm because of an emergency surgery case) and went on to the mission home. We stopped back to check on him at 8:10-9:45 pm. His tonsillectomy went well. A guard walked us outside and to the end of the block to buy his medicine at the Corner Pharmacy that was open until 10 pm. They needed to give it to him Tuesday morning and thereafter when he was at the mission home.

Tuesday morning, 4 December, we had Mission Leadership Council from 10 am to 3 pm. I got a call from the nurse, saying Elder King was discharged and ready to be picked up. Sister Sitati and I went and picked him up and took him to the mission home and got him settled. Sister Irene and the gardeners were there all day. Elder King slept. We went back to MLC at 11:50. Lunch was at 12:30.

After MLC, President Sitati interviewed some elders and then we went to the Dobsonville Mall to join the Soweto Zone in a Light The World activity they had been doing all day. Many Light The World brochures were handed out, and a lot of people wrote their contact information down for a missionary visit. Sister Sitati and I kept busy writing contact and church information on the back of the brochures as so many had been handed out during the day. We ended at 6 pm when the mall closed and drove to Porterhouse by the mission office to have dinner before returning to the mission home.
