28 May 2017 Vaal District Conference

President and Sister Leavitt, President and Sister Wagner, and Elder and Sister Hunt attended the Vaal District Conference at the Sebokeng Chapel on Sunday from 10 am-12 pm. We arrived early so President Leavitt could conduct some temple recommend interviews. 

President and Sister Leavitt both spoke at the conference. A district choir, as pictured below, favored us with the opening and closing numbers. Elder Zwane had practiced and accompanied the congregational rest song and the closing choir hymn. His companion, Elder Avarell, who is an accomplished accompanist, was beaming. During his talk, President Leavitt complimented Elder Avarell on helping, and Elder Zwane for developing and using his talents for the benefit of all.

While President Leavitt interviewed each missionary, the other missionaries cooked cookies for the upcoming Zone Conference on May 31-June 1 with me (Sister Leavitt). We also talked about how they spend their monthly allotment.  We talked about the food they eat and some of the ways they prepare it. Many of the missionaries wrote their monthly budgets out to see how they were doing. We also got in some cookie tasting and ping pong fun!
