7 April 2017, Welcome and Farewell Dinner, Sr. Couples
Johannesburg LDS Mission Home, 6 pm
A big thank you to Sister Nicki and Elder Dennis Larson. We can tell that all the missionaries have
grown to love them and will miss their helpful and loving attitude. They have
each done a wonderful job in their office service and will be missed!
Elder Clarence and Sister Linda Wagner arrived 19 March
2017, and were trained by the Larsons to take their office jobs the next day
until 7 April 2017, the Larson’s last office day. We welcome them to the
Johannesburg Mission office!
New Mission President Dane Leavitt and companion Sister Ruth Leavitt thank Elder and Sister Larsen for all their service in our South Africa Johannesburg mission office. Besides training the Wagners, they also helped train the Leavitts! We will miss them!
President Michael and Sister Linda Dunn took us past the
Johannesburg South Africa Temple during our time of orientation with them. They
did an extraordinary job of training us since we had to skip the MTC and most
of our pre-field training to arrive three and a half months early on short
notice—and with our youngest son’s wedding four days before we left.
Elder Richard and Sister Katherine Black, our MLS
missionaries, moved from Nelspruit into a flat by the Area Office in
Johannesburg today so Elder Black can be the area doctor between Dr. Jubber
leaving on April 12 and Dr. Johnson coming two weeks later. The Blacks will
then return to Nelspruit until they leave in July.
Elder Michael and Sister Karen Jensen, our MLS missionaries,
who are serving in Potchefstroom.
Elder John and Sister Joellen Duncan, our MLS missionaries, who
are serving in Klerksdorp.
Elder Byron and Sister Barbara Hunt, our MLS missionaries, who
serve in Sharpeville.
Elder Ace and Sister Jen Robison, our Humanitarian
Missionaries, who live by the Area Office.
Elder Lawrence and Sister Marsha Wells serve with us in our
Mission Office.
Elder Zitumane and Elder Campbell, our wonderful assistants
to the president, who have been our constant trainers and helpers. They have
made these first weeks possible to survive!
After a delicious dinner, we gathered in the living room and
each gave tributes to the Larsons, and the Larsons gave their farewell remarks
before we sang to the piano accompaniment of Sister Black to close a wonderful
evening of visiting.
We had a wonderful evening!
