4 June 2017 Klerksdorp Branch & Social Media Initiative Meeting

4 June 2017 Klerksdorp Branch & Social Media Initiative Meeting

President Leavitt and I drove about two hours to Klerksdorp on 3 June 2017 and checked into The Red Cherry Guesthouse about two blocks from our missionaries serving in Klerksdorp and Jouberton. We went and visited Elder Higgs, Elder Blackburn, Elder Nielsen, Elder Engrom's flat. We ate a late dinner at Mike's Kitchen and met a wonderful server. He told us about his wife and two young daughters and we told him about the church and our missionary contact numbers. He moved his family to Klerksdorp from Johannesburg.

We went to the Klerksdorp Branch for meetings the next day. We both spoke in sacrament meeting. President Leavitt did interviews before and also training after. Wonderful Brother Jubber, who played the piano for sacrament meeting, also made us meat pies and custard for lunch. They were delicious.

We drove home in time to meet with all our Zone Leaders and three return missionary sisters Wondele, Bailli, and Abigail (Courtney was absent) at the mission home at 6 pm for continued work on our Social Media Initiative. As it had been Fast Sunday, many were very hungry, so I quickly made peanut butter sandwiches to serve before the meeting got started. I served cookies and ice cream after. The meeting was part of a continuing effort of participants of committee meetings which were being held to define and then refine our approach to teaching members how to use social media in sharing the gospel. It was a very productive meeting.
