5 September 2017 Fire behind Office

5 September 2017 Fire behind Office right at the end of our trainer/trainee meeting

We finished our meeting with the trainees meeting their trainers and came out to become aware that a fire was burning the Church property behind our CES/Physical Facilities/SAJM Mission Office building. We hurriedly grabbed all the garbage cans and fire extinguishers from our office and pulled a fire hose from our mission office through the back window (but the water pressure was so low that very little water came out--just enough to fill containers). There was one water pump on the field that we used to fill containers. We worked on putting water to make a barrier to stop the fire where we didn't want it to progress. And we put water on tree trunks which were burning. It was very smokey. We all smelled like we had been roasting hot dogs and marshmallows around a large camp fire! Luckily only grass, weeds and slash piles burned, and some tree trunks were burning until we put the fire out. Another blessing is that the property is fenced with non-combustible material, which stopped the fire from spreading beyond our property. And we were also blessed that the high flames didn't start the neighbor's trees on fire.

WHAT AN EXCITING WAY TO START A MISSION!
