2019 January 2 MLC

We held our Mission Leadership Council with all our zone leaders and assistants in the CES classroom from 10 am - 3:30 pm.

It is wonderful to meet with the zone leaders and talk about many items--some which we spent much time after we came to the Johannesburg Mission in 2017. We only have three of those missionaries left.

Because we have such a young mission, it is necessary to talk about things like the Sports Policy again and why they are so fortunate to have the latitude they do to participate in sports under certain conditions. Past MLC participants proposed and agreed to rules to keep missionaries safe while having some fun exercise. We have seen during our stay here that the majority of injuries and anger problems came when these rules were not followed. President Leavitt covered that policy and a few other items.

Our assistants, Elder Bogosavac and Elder Witts gave a great training on Adjust Teaching to Meet Needs. They had Elder Reneer and Elder Simmons do a role play with Elder Witts (Riley) in asking wonderful questions to really pinpoint his needs. They also covered using the right male present to help meet needs, provide friendship, answer questions, etc. of those being taught.

Sister Leavitt covered the Health Section of the Mission Manual and went over a few other procedural items and responsibilities of the missionaries to keep themselves healthy so they can be effective servants of the Lord.

President Leavitt did a goal-setting demonstration. The greatest satisfaction is felt when great effort is expended and the goal achieved.

Elder Bogosavac and Elder Witts went over our goals and results and recording procedures from 2018. As a mission, we have done well in bringing many people unto the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Each companionship met with their ward or branch leaders and set goals with them and reported those to the district leaders.  The district members met and from that information, set four key indicator goals and reported to the zone leaders. The zone leaders combined and adjusted as necessary and presented their four key indicator goals for 2019 in MLC. The goals need to be achievable but stretching. We talked about the totals and through conversation and prayer, were finally united with our four key indicator goals for 2019. The assistants present them in zone conferences.
